I had a ton of fun working on this project for Shannon Dittemore. I found the first book in her duology (WINTER: White and Wicked) in my local bookstore in grad school. Lots of internet friends had been pumping it up, so I decided to give it a go, which led to a bit of fan art, which led to me picking up her first trilogy, which led to more fan art…. Eventually Shannon asked if I’d be willing to create some artwork for the sequel (REBEL: Brave and Brutal).

When Marty, a jaded maid at a rundown motel, gets stuck in the rain with a young coworker, she resigns herself to a late evening of unwanted optimism, unrealistic dreams, and cheap watercolor paints. But when the conversation shifts to more serious matters, Marty realized she might have misjudged her quirky work partner.
Mockup Cover Designs for RED Trilogy
Eighteen-year-old River Ardis lives in a future where terrorists infiltrate the country as teenagers. She tries her best to keep her head down and away from the unrest until she meets a distraught girl from the 1990s. But little do either of them know, the oppressive government has been hunting the time traveler for years—and anyone associated with her. I began writing my time travel dystopian trilogy when I was fourteen, and it’s since undergone extensive edits for the past ten years. While I intend to pursue a traditional publishing house, which would be responsible for cover designs, I wanted to design my own cover and layout for a class project.
Rivera Ardis Character Design
In my Advanced Digital Graphics class, we had to break out of our graphic design comfort zones and focus more on creating our own graphics to amplify our skillsets. One of our projects required us to do a character design or portrait, so I decided to draw my main character from my novel. While it’s not particularly my favorite digital painting ever, it taught me a lot about warm light and cool shadows, perspective, and drawing a character within a setting (something I’m pretty terrible at), so this was a really enjoyable project. I got a B+ on this project.
VBS 2019 Campaign
I was able to help with my church’s Vacation Bible School program this summer by creating the graphics, artwork, t-shirts, door hangers, flyers, and banners.

Proposed Redesign of Indians Collegian Mascot
At my college, Greek life is called a “collegian” instead of a sorority, and I joined the Indians as a freshman. Despite loving the collegian and the friends I’ve made here, I really dislike their logo. Not only did the American “Indian” look white, it was a man…for a women’s collegian. The collegian dates back to the 70s, and back then all mascots were men regardless of the type of collegian (to mimic college sports teams, supposedly) and more modern collegians have more female representation, but we don’t. So while I was league rep, I decided to propose a new logo that was more ethnically accurate and women representative. While the college has it on file somewhere, they told me that they tend to update the collegian mascots in batch because of the high cost to replace all the branding across campus. With the political controversy around valid American Indian representation, I doubt my collegian will survive a rebrand, but one can hope. I tried to keep to the same art style and colors as the original mascot, but with a younger, feminine face and a slightly darker and redder skin tone. Even if it never gets used, it was … Read More
